Self – Regulated Thermal Process Taking Place during Hardening of Materials ... | Physics TomorrowPhysics of transient nucleate boiling process, when film boiling is completely absent, is widely discussed in this paper. Three characteristics of the self – regulated thermal process are often used in practice. They are: quick establishing of developed nucleate boiling process (within 1.5 - 2 seconds independently on size and form of steel component); maintenance of surface temperature of steel component during nucleate boiling at the level of boiling point of a liquid; possibility of controlling surface temperature by control saturation temperature of a liquid. Based on discussed characteristics, the simplified approach of temperature fields calculations in quenched steel components is proposed that results in high accuracy of calculations. The self – regulated thermal process is also used for obtaining super strengthened materials. New method for obtaining super strong materials, using plain high carbon steel, is proposed.
